This is my nineteenth year teaching in the second grade at Lauderdale County High School.  I coached softball and volleyball for ten years but I am now retired from both of these.  I feel as if I am in the ideal grade as it allows me to further the reading that the first grade teachers have so diligently established and to continue to expound on that and develop the students into the fluent readers they become.  I am so fortunate to have the awesome opportunity to teach second graders Envision Math and AMSTI science.  We certainly have a great time in the classroom as we learn core curriculum studies and how they apply to their daily lives. This year we have had the chance to teach the Liberty's Legacy Super Citizen civics program.  The students are gleaning invaluable lessons from this study.  I also like to take every opportunity to build their self-esteem so that they feel more capabable in their own abilities and become more independent in any activity or endeavor they may pursue.

My name is Robin Shelton. I have been teaching 2nd grade for 19 years, and I absolutely love teaching! Second grade is the very best!!!  I have been married for thirty -three years to Barry Shelton.  He is the most wonderful husband in the entire world.  Barry works at 3M in Decatur as a design/developer and enjoys playing golf in his free time.

He and I have three children.  Justin (30), Lauren (28) and Lucas (26) who are the lights of my life.  Justin and his wife Judith have two beautiful girls.  Justin works for Target distribution center in Madison, while Judith is a social worker for Lauderdale County DHR. Dallas is seven years old and is in my class this year and Savannah is 4 years old.  Lauren and I have the honor of teaching together here at LCHS. She teaches special education and also coaches softball. She is married to Josh Holderfield and lives here in Rogersville. She has a kindergartner, named Sawyer.  Lucas recently earned business management/economic degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and is engaged to be married to Hanna Hatteland in the Fall of 2016.  My grandchildren keep me very busy, but I truly enjoy every minute I am with them.  (I just need more energy to keep up with them!) My family and I attend Clements Baptist Church where I enjoy singing in the choir and teaching a ladies life group class.   I also enjoy reading, working in my flowers, and spending time with my family and friends (in all of my spare time).
